Kirkmichael Village Shop Ltd has been open for approximately 10 years providing fuel, post office, small café and general stores . The business was put on the market in autumn 2008 and no interest was expressed. In April 2009 local residents formed a Community Interest Company with the intent of securing the shop and developing it as a social enterprise and to trade in a socially, ethically and environmentally responsible manner to be at the centre of the community in Strathardle. The project aims to buy the business, refit the shop, improve the external amenity, generate more custom through effective local marketing and develop the café.
