Glenshee Visitor Centre

 Organisation: Glenshee Tourist Association
Project Title: Glenshee Visitor Centre (L1RTLAG078)
 Description:

The project aims to improve the overall economy in the Mount Blair area by encouraging visitors to stay longer, undertake repeat visits and to extend the tourist season into the shoulder months by showcasing the wide variety of outdoor activities which can be undertaken throughout the year. Additionally the project will strengthen the existing tourism business network by providing a common facility to promote all micro & small businesses in the area with an interest in tourism and help foster a more cohesive community by creating a facility which can be used to promote community projects and events.

As part of this project the GTA wishes to lease approximately 220 square feet from the Glenshee Pottery in order to create a visitor centre facility.

The project will build the visitor centre facility within the Glenshee Pottery and the works will include creation of new stud walling, relocation of an internal door, creation of wall space for graphic panels, creation of shelving for local business leaflets, notice board for community events, TV & DVD to screen local images, footage and messages, lighting and electric sockets. Three picnic benches will be located outside to Southside of the car park with views down Glenshee, and brown signage will be erected in advance of the building on the north and south side of the carriageway and immediately opposite the entrance. Graphic panels will be developed to showcase the areas tourism product.
