Eligibility & Funding

Who can apply for LEADER funding?

The following groups are eligible for LEADER funding for projects that will benefit local rural communities and the public:

• constituted community groups
• social enterprises
• business networks
• partnerships
• trusts
• voluntary and public sector organisations

Other requirements

• LEADER grant can be awarded for up to 90% of total eligible costs for capital and revenue projects
• A minimum 5% of total eligible project should be met by the applicant
• Applicant organisations must supply copy of constitution, recent bank statement and recent accounts
• Minimum project cost is £1,000  
• Match funding should be in place for application to be considered
• Match funding must not come from another European Union source
• Projects seeking £5,000 or less of LEADER funding towards the project are fast tracked
• Projects requiring more than £5,000 LEADER funding are considered by the Local Action group at quarterly meetings
